About Phil Smith
Phil Smith has been involved in magic for over 30 years. He started his magic career at the age of seven by joining the York Society of Magicians and has been performing ever since.

After leaving school in 1988 he joined the BBC and has been working full time in both Radio and Television as a Technical Manager and Producer.
His television programmes have won many Royal Television Society Awards over the years. In his younger days, "The Black and White Magic of Phil Smith", his silent, competition act won many awards in the magic world and was seen at Conventions and Magic Society Dinners.

In recent years he has advised on and produced promotional videos for the UK's top Illusionists, magicians and theatre companies. He has also produced magic on Television. Whilst he no longer has the time to perform magic on a regular basis, his talents have now moved forward into the marketing of magic in the 21st century, utilising modern communication methods such as video, radio, television, Internet Podcasts, Vodcasts and Blogging.

He has a unique insight in the art of Magic and how it can be best performed on television, now and in the future, utilising the new multi-media platforms to which we are all exposed.

“In my early days, in the Beeb, when people found out I was a Magician they couldn't wait to get me on radio and TV – sadly, or perhaps fortunately, tapes of those early performances no longer exist! But it did teach me a lot about what to do and what not do on the TV and Radio.”
