Thanks Phil and Garth, I recently went with my wife from Agra to Mumbai using the sleeper Rajdhani. BTW, I grew up in India and during my college days travelled from Mumbai to my college in Kanpur (a 27 hour journey) using a 3 tier sleeper four times a year for 5 years. This time around, I am much older and my American wife was pretty clueless about train travel period. Compared to my college years the Two tier AC sleeper was a huge step up from the non-AC three tier that I used. The food was actually nice and the hot meal did not give us a Delhi-belly. But who knows, we might just have been lucky. Yes the toilets are a challenge and yes personal space is a rarity as are manners regarding using Cell phone during the night. Other than that, I enjoyed the trip and would do another if I had too. You guys however are champs doing so many journeys and not being Indian!

A lot of sensible info from "hard" experience, I recall the smell from similar facilities on old RENFE trains back in the 60's.
I hope to splash out and go 1A on some sleepers.
