We went to see the Terracotta warriors in the summer of 2016. We took the mag lev from Beijing to Xi an. It was a great experience. I highly recommend going there.

How good are these pictures!? I’m a big fan of visiting China and have spent some time learning Mandarin. I haven’t visited Xian yet but my girlfriend has, but would certainly love to go and check out this part in China in the future.

Great blog. I just love the Terracotta Army – it is definitely on my list of must-dos. I like the look of your train berth. We recently did a first class train trip in Thailand and, although comfortable, it looked nothing like yours!

I am surprised at how nice your train berth was – I expected yellowing curtains and old trains! I would love to traverse China by train. The terracota army is also very high on my list of things to visit and it must have been an incredible experience! I really don’t like squat toilets though. Looks like you had a great time – can’t wait to read about the next part of your China trip.

The view of the pits is amazing, definitely something I’d like to see in person. I’ve heard differing accounts of the Terracotta Army, so I’m glad you enjoyed it. I love that you say Garth thought the show was too touristy, but was immersed in the touristy stalls, haha. Excellent photos as per usual.

I love that we are following one another around China and seeing some of the similair sights – reading your stories take me right back there again and some of your photos could be ours – fantastic! We visited in the height of summer for a special birthday so you have already guessed the crowds we experienced. Shame you didn’t get a photo of the farmer to compare with ours (which we are using on our blog in the hope someone can confirm it’s the same farmer lol). Love hearing about your sleeper train encounter, ours was an organised tour so we flew but I love that you travelled like a local 🙂

Thanks for sharing! I was so bummed that I missed Xi’an when I went to China 🙁 We didn’t book the domestic travel (within China) in advance, so we had to skip. It’s lovely that you were able to see a bit of the less-traveled parts of China via the train.
