Totally fabulous photos and so interesting. I visited the warriors and did the Li river trip with a group almost 25 years ago. I wondered how it has changed. We went in November, very wet and visited some village near the Burmese border. I still have the itinerary. We started in Beijing when it was a sea of bicyles. I was revieiwing my 7 DVDs that I made on the trip. I couldn't remember hardly any of it, so found re viewing the DVDs very interesting. Some of the places we stayed at were very basic but the person who organized it through the Chinese Cultural tourist company wanted to go off the beaten track as much as possible. I never knew the mini mountains were called karsts. Thank you so much for your excellent report on this journey. I am so glad I've discovered your web page through trying to see how the Terracotta warrior site may have changed.

Yangshuo and the Li River look incredible. I adore karst landscapes so I loved looking through all your photos - very reminiscent of northern Vietnam. The stone village looks utterly charming too and thankfully without all the tourists in Yanghsuo which was pretty insane really. That kind of sight of a sea of grey-haired tourists would totally put me off were it not for all the other photos. That view from Xiang Gong Shan Mountain is just amazing, definitely something I want to see with my own eyes, wow.

This is just so beautiful! I have always wanted to see these karsts first hand and your photos are just stunning - I almost feel like I am there! The views of the countryside and the agricultural terraces are amazing - I really need to visit China soon! Not sure about all those tourists but I am sure I would find a way to be there at around 5 am - all tourist-free! Thanks for sharing!

Yes, the video is great, love how your adding those. It really is an absolutely gorgeous place. The backdrops are breathtaking. Thanks for the tips it's good to be reminded that the lifestyle may not be a plush as your own. Are you allowed to hike those areas on the outskirts?
